Biomass
Energy from organic material — a local leader in biomass innovation.
Convert agricultural, forestry and organic residues into reliable heat and power, displacing fossil fuels with a renewable, locally sourced feedstock.
Biomass is organic material — from plants, agricultural residues, and forestry by-products — that stores energy from the sun. Released through combustion or conversion, that energy becomes a renewable source of heat and electricity.
How it becomes power
There are several strategies for converting biomass into power. The most direct is to burn biomass to heat water into steam, then drive a steam turbine that generates electricity. Other routes convert biomass into gaseous or liquid fuels before use, improving efficiency and flexibility.
Because the feedstock is sourced locally and would otherwise be wasted, biomass displaces imported fossil fuels, supports the local economy, and closes the loop on organic residues that would otherwise be discarded.
